About TrackFind

TrackFind is a work in progress.

It converts your GPS position into UK railway location information — engineering line reference (ELR), mileage and chainage, track name, and nearest junction — using Network Rail open GIS data. You can also tap any track on the map to see the same details.

It works offline once loaded and can be installed to your home screen.

⚠ TrackFind is an unofficial tool provided for general reference only. Positions, mileages and names may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. It must not be used for any safety-critical purpose or operational railway decision-making. Always rely on official publications and instructions.

Add to your home screen

iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button (square with an up arrow) → scroll down → Add to Home Screen → Add. TrackFind then opens full-screen like a normal app and works offline.

Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen (or tap the Install banner if one appears).

Allow location (GPS)

When first asked, choose Allow While Using the App. If you previously tapped Don't Allow:

iPhone: Settings → Apps → Safari → Location → Ask or Allow, then reload the page. If you installed TrackFind to your home screen, delete the icon and add it again, then allow when prompted.

Android: tap the padlock in the address bar → Permissions → Location → Allow, then reload.

Tip: the ⊕ button on the map re-centres on your position at any time.
